A night at the Oscars it was indeed.

Entering through to African Heritage they felt like they had just stepped in to Hollywood.

From live interviews taking place to the “paparazzi” snapping their photo, the room felt alive with an aura of glamour.

The stage was aglow with powerful beams of light projecting upwards, against a back drop of sparkling stars on a midnight sky.

Guests were kept entertained by viewing their fellow colleagues on stage, and definitely not forgetting an incredible performance by Lauren Lang throughout the evening.

An event filled with sophistication, glamour and sparkle made it an evening to remember.

Locnville set for a case of spring fever

THE first Spring Festival took place in Richards Bay and gave explosion of music and entertainment to liven up the town in Zululand.

Events manager Duncan placed over three days, from September 30 to October 2, at the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation (ZCBF) showgrounds, an array of entertainment, including a performance by Locnville.

“We have entertainment happening in our main arena which will include skydivers, hot rods, a fire brigade display and more. Then we have a kids’ zone that will cater for three- to seven-year-olds and we have a great line-up in our marquee which will include our two main acts, Locnville and The Rudimentals,” he said.

Locnville is an an electro music duo formed by identical twin brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin in 2009. The twins are singer-songwriters and producers in addition to being guitarists, drummers and business entrepreneurs.

Their debut studio album, Sun In My Pocket, was released in February last year and proved a major hit, peaking at No 1 on the Risa South African Albums Chart and later winning the Best Newcomer category at last year’s MK Awards. Their second studio album, Running To Midnight, was released in July.

The Rudimentals, an eight-piece ska/reggae band from Cape Town, have been around since 2000.

They toured with the UK outfit UB40 while they were in South Africa in July 2007 and have also performed at the Cape Town Jazz Festival, Zimfest ’08 and numerous other annual local events.

Over the three days a number of competitions took place, including a Miss Junior Zululand Spring Festival, a hip hop competition and a Miss Zululand Spring Festival.

“The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the ZCBF. Our vision is to be the leading facilitator to economically and socially empower communities,” sdaid Fouche.

“Our mission is to respond to the development needs of our greater community by facilitat-ing networks, partnerships and joint ventures, to build the capacity of the community to sustain themselves economically and to improve the quality of their lives.”

The Spring Festival offered family-orientated entertainment in a safe and secure venue, catering for all cultures and ensuring the broadest possible cross-section of visitors.

“We will have Locnville performing live on Friday, September 30, and the weekend is jam-packed with more enter-tainment from the Rudimentals, Teen Machine Dancers, DJs and more,” said Fouche.

G&G Productions proudly presented the Official Vodacom Durban July Afterparty -

The most prestigious event to hit SA’s calendar, where the who’s-who of SA’s elite came together to party. The build-up already began as G&G Productions once again pulled out all the stops to prepare for this year’s Official Vodacom Durban July After Party, to be held at the DLI Hall on the 2nd of July 2011. Powered by Vodacom 4U, this event formed the climax of a weekend of pure entertainment for Durban.

Party-goers had two dance floors, the latest in lighting and stage design, monstrous sound systems and over 50 uniquely outrageous on-screen displays and projections, which accompanied SA’s biggest and most talented DJ’s and performing artists. The Vodacom Durban July Afterparty is one of Durban’s most prestigious events and was held once again at the DLI Hall, a venue which echoes the up-market nature of the event whilst enjoying a holding capacity of up to 8000 people. Situated on DLI Avenue within the Greyville Race Track, the DLI Hall is just a short walk from the hospitality village and main grand stands at the Vodacom Durban July
